Technical Safety Engineer

Position: Technical Safety Engineer
Location: Korea & Myanmar
Commence: Q4 2019
Duration: Yearly basis
Criteria:
  • BSc. / MSc. / MEng.  or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Preferably a Registered Professional, Chartered Engineer or member of Professional Engineering Society
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience of which at least 10 years must be in the upstream Offshore Oil & Gas industry
  • Previously worked on integrated projects with CAPEX in excess of $100MM.
  • Preference for previous experience working for an Oil and Gas Operator in a client oversight team during FEED and EPCIC stages of an offshore project
  • Preference for previous experience working on projects which include brownfield scope of work, particularly in respect to tie-in of new facilities into existing platform systems

Critical Technical Skills and Capabilities
  • A broad knowledge of all aspects of Technical Safety is essential
  • Ability to ensure all hazards are identified, ranked and managed at all stages of a project. Ensure effective preventative measures are specified in the design
  • Competency in various qualitative and quantitative formal safety risk assessment methodologies, (i.e. Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), HAZID, HAZOP, Fire and Explosion Consequence and Risk Analysis (FERA), Non Flammables Hazards Analysis (NFHA), Ship Collision and Dropped Objects (SCA, DOA), Escape, Evacuation and Rescue Analysis (EERA), Emergency Systems Survivability Assessment (ESSA), Smoke and Gas Ingress Analysis (SGIA), Temporary Refuge and Impairment Assessment (TRIA), Environmental Impact Identification (ENVID)
  • Ability to identify potential Major Accident Events (MAE), Safety Critical Elements (SCE) and measure effectiveness against Performance Standards (PS). Manage Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assessment, familiarity with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and SIL verification processes
  • Experience of process hazard analysis software such as (e.g. PHAST, PHA-Pro), and conversant with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis techniques
  • Familiar with Human Factors Engineering, Working Environment, Environmental Engineering
  • Must possess a good understanding of the basic discipline work processes of a FEED and EPCIC project
  • Must be well versed with relevant safety related international codes and standards such as API, NFPA, ISO, SOLAS

  • Strong interpersonal skills, exercising tolerance and respect when working within a diverse and multi-national project team
  • Ability to oversee work and provide mentoring to inexperienced engineers
